Homemade Granola

Saturday morning I made some Homemade Granola. I got the recipe from a blog that some ladies from my neighborhood created to post recipe and talk about food and kitchen gadgets. The recipe was provided by a good friend Ann. It's very simple and very good. If any of you that read this are interested in the recipe you can go to Neighborhoodkitchen.blogspot.com and the recipe will be posted.

Music Makers

This past Wednesday the Music Makers group that we have at church every wednesday morning went on a fieldtrip to Rocky Mountain Nursing home. The kids sang songs to the elderly ladies that were present for the weekly Relief Society meeting that is held at the nursing home by a dedicated group of sisters that consist of the Relief Society Presidency. The kids did very well and even recited Nursery Rhymes on their own or sang on their own. Braden counted from 1-10 with alittle help from Crystal and Kaylee sang Twinkle Twinkle little star. They felt really pround of themselves. Too bad I didn't even think of taking my camera. But they had fun. Kaylee was even sad that these old folks where stuck in this place.

Park City, Heber City, and Midway

Yesterday we had a family outing and we decided to head over to the mountains since it was so hazy down here in the valley. We started driving up parleys canyon and soon noticed the haze was gone and it was a beautiful sunny day. When we arrived at Park City we realized the Sundance Film Festival was going on. So we drove up and down he streets to see if we could get a glimpse of some celebrities!! And the first time we went down Main Street, we saw Carson Daley from MTV interviewing some people, and then when saw the main actor from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (sorry I don't know his name). Everywhere there were people, it was so much fun. After that we headed over to Heber City and stopped at the Heber Valley Railroad. Took some pictures and then we drove to The Homestead Country Resort in Midway. For all of you that don't know, Jorge and I had our Honeymoon in this place, we wanted to walk around and remember the good times that we had there. We stayed during the summer months and now we where there during winter, it looked even more cozy now. We ate lunch at Fanny's Grill, the food was excellent (I recommend this place to anyone that want to go). The kids behaved very well. After heading down we stopped in Park City again, the kids where asleep in the car so we drove again down Main street one more time, and it was even more packed with people. We saw "The Counting Crowes", Lorenzo Llamas, an EXTRA correspondent, Nick Cannon (Mariah Careys Husband) and the director from Beautiful Minds. All in all we had a great time and it was nice to get away for a few hours from home.

Sleepover at Grandma and Granpas!

Lasr weekend the kids mainly Kaylee had the idea to sleepover their grandparents house. Kaylee was telling me that all her friends from church had slept over there grandparents house and that she wanted to try it. So she went about in making plans and she asked my mom if it would be okay. My parents both agreed and so Friday night jorge and me took them over the my parents house. Before all this happened Kaylee was a little reluctant in going through with her plan because she would miss me. She would just start crying and come hug me because she was going to miss me and she wasn't sure she wanted to go anymore. 1 hour before leaving she agreed again in going and was really excited. They slept there and watched a movie with grandma and grandpa and went to be late and woke up very early. On saturday morning we all went out to breakfast to Mcdonalds (jorge couldn't come because he has a class on saturday mornings). But we enjoyed ourselves with grandma and grandpa all morning long.

Goals for the New Year!

Last year I accomplished some goals. One was to finish the Book of Mormon for the second time, I did it. I was so proud of myself. I also read alot of books from different authors mostly LDS authors. I started having an exercise routine but that always for some reason is left behind. So this new year I started with a new routine of walking and jogging for 20-30 minutes on my treadmill and hopefully by spring I will be able to run outside. I have a friend that has lost weight on this type of training, it is awesome. There is a website for it and they train you for a 3 mile to a 5K. And they say that if you follow their training you can be running 3 miles in 2 months. So today I started and so far so good. Its only 3 days a week for 20 minutes. I will keep all of you posted. Another goal I have is to read all of Doctrine and Covenants, I already started and it is so interesting to learn about the golden plates and the translation that Joseph Smith did so that we could have the Book of Mormon today. Iam also following it with the D&C study guide so I can refer to that if I don't understand something. Another goal is to go to the temple more often with my husband or by myself. This is something we started to do last year frequently but it became difficult with Jorge going to school. Another thing is to save money and keep out of debt, now with the economic times you cannot afford to have debt. We have learned this lesson over and over again.
I hope I will be able to accomplish all these things and more in this new year. I want to draw closer to my Savior and teach my kids about the Book of Mormon and about the Holy Ghost. Today we started to do that and they love to read from their own Book of Mormons that Jorge got them and to learn to feel the spirit. I was able to feel the spirit so strong while I was teaching them that I know for a fact the Jesus Christ loves the children so much and more when they know that he lives and that he will Come Again!!!

New Years Eve

On New Years Eve we spend the night at my parents house. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came also to spend the night with us, waiting for the new year to arrive. My dad cooked pernil(which is a leg of pork) and we made sandwiches and ate donuts close to midnigth. After we ate we played UNO, and Phase 10 and watched a movie until midnight struck and we all hugged each other to celebrate the new Year 2009.
